Abstract Objective:To investigate the plasma levels of adiponectin and resistin in asymptomatic hyperuricemia subjects, and to compare with those of healthy subjects matched for age and body mass index( BMI).Method:39 patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia and 39 healthy subjects were studied. The plasma levels of adiponectin and resistin were determined by ELISA.Result:Plasma resistin levels in hyperuricemia subjects was significantly higher than that of healthy subjects[(4.16±1.95)μg/mL vs( 13.37±5.10)μg/mL,P<0.01],while adiponectin plasma levels in hyperuricemia subjects was significantly lower than that of [(12.53±4.28)ng/mL vs( 5.93±3.71)ng/mL,P<0.01].The former were negative correlation with blood uric acid level, while the latter positively. Conclusion:The findings suggest that asymptomatic hyperuricemia patients have significantly higher resistin plasma levels and significantly lower adiponectin plasma levels than that of healthy subjects.Hyperuricemia may participate metabolic syndrome process.
