Abstract Objective： To investigate the standard maintenance practice of implantable venous access port（ IVAP）in order to keep the catheter free of obstruction or infection to ensure successful treatment. Method： An evidence-basednursing team was established to evaluate the authenticity，reliability，and practicability of the evidence regarding themanagement of non-injured needle injection， flushing and sealing， catheter-related infection during maintenance ofIVAP in 129 patients in the department of Breast Surgery from October 2011 to April 2012. Result： The success rateof one-time non-injured needle injection was 99.4%.No obstruction or infection happened during catheter retention.Conclusion：Evidence-based is the basis of clinical care， applying evidence-based nursing to IVAP maintenance for
standard operation procedure and to guide clinical were great significance.
