| Use of Free Medialis Pedis Flap for Repair of Skin Defect on the Volar Surface of Digits |

Abstract Objective：To evaulate treatment outcome of free medialis pedis flap for repair of skin defect on the volar surface of digits.Method：From May 2009 to Feb 2013， 21 cases of skin defect on the volar surface of digits were treated by using free medialis pedis flap.The defect area ranged from 2 cm×2.5 cm to 3 cm×7 cm.Duration from injury to operation ranged from 3 hours to 72 hours.Result：Small necrosis zone was observed at the distal part of flap in one case. After removing the necrosis part of the flap and repairing the residual wounds.Vessel thrombosis occurred in one case，successful emergency treatment was achieved.Flaps survived in the other 19 cases. Postoperative follow-up 6 to 15 monthes indicated good texture and sense of touch，satisfactory apperarance and joint function. Conclusion：Applying free medialis pedis flap is a good method for treating patients with skin defect on the volar surface of digits.
