Abstract Objective：To observe the effect of Chinese Traditional Formula Wenzhong Zhixie Tang on Piyang Deficiency of irritable bowel syndromes（IBS） and explore the possible mechanism. Method：100 patients were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group，50 cases in Wenzhong Zhixie Tang group and starch tablet （treatment group），50 cases in greiadine（the character was similar as the Wenzhong Zhixie Tang） and Bifidobacterium tetravaccine Tablets（Live）（positive control group）.Two groups all took one month as one treatment period. Result：The use of Wenzhong Zhixie Tang treatment， abdominal pain，diarrhea symptoms，X-ray examination improved，there was significant difference with control grou（P<0.05）.Conclusion：Wenzhong Zhixie Tang has remarkable effect on Pi-yang Deficiency of IBS（ diarrhea type），which might be related to inhibit the excessive gastrointestinal movement，relieve the cramp of gastrointestinal tract.
