Abstract Objective: To investigate the efficacy of individual health education on improving oral mucositis of head and neck cancer radiotherapy patients. Method: 120 head and neck cancer concurrent radiotherapy patients with oral mucositis were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group, each group contained 60 cases. All the patients were treated with recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor sprays. Patients in control group were given conventional health education, and in the observation group were given individualized health education. The oral mucosa reaction and satisfaction evaluation of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Result: With the increasing of chemotherapy doses and extending of chemotherapy time, the differences on oral mucosa reaction of two groups were statistically significant( P<0.05). The attitude on health education and recognition degree on language and content of control group was statistically lower than that of the observation group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Individual health education can effectively extend oral mucosa reaction and improve the patient satisfaction.
